Yesterday was a busy day and by the time we got in our room for the night I was just too tired to update the blog. But now with an early departure from Nassau it's a perfect time to update.
We enjoyed our stay at the DoubleTree and it was a lovely room. When we got up in the morning and walked into the bathroom the ceiling tile was laying broken and wet on the floor. It seems that the air conditioner unit in the ceiling was dripping, soaked the tile and it collapsed to the floor. We just pushed it out of the way and put the garbage can under the drip. When Jim went down to the desk to check out and we told them about it they were very gracious and surprised that we weren't mad or angry. We were like, seriously?!? But I guess some people are that way and don't display a Christian attitude. They gave us a 30% discount on our stay, I guess it pays to be nice.
Anyway, we checked out of the hotel and took a taxi to the port. Check in was a breeze and while we waited a little bit to board the ship we met some great people. Concierge level guests were invited to a luncheon, which was delicious. We then took care of our reservations for dinners and other stuff.
Our ship. Celebrity Eclipse
Our cabin is wonderful, just like we've had before, and then it's time for the muster station drill. This usually doesn't take very long unless you've got idiots who don't show up for the mandatory drill and you have to wait for said guests before you can be dismissed. Well, something that usually takes 20 minutes took over 45 and that in turn made our departure from Miami late as well. Sailing out from Miami is beautiful and people were waving from the shore along the way.
We had dinner last night at Murano, one of the specialty restaurants on the ship. We had a wonderful dinner and then on to the show last night. The show was Not Really Three Tenors, because they were two tenors and a baritone. They were great!
This morning we docked in Nassau and after breakfast we got off the ship and wandered around in town. We took a taxi to Atlantis to see the Chihuly glass chandeliers in the casino.
Very beautiful glass work. I understand from a friend that there is a museum on the west coast of Florida, Tampa area I believe. Definitely want to go see that.
We depart today at 3:00 pm.
NEWS BULLETIN:
The Captain just got on the overhead speaker and told us that due to bad weather/rough seas in the Bermuda area we will be skipping that port and going directly to Lisbon, Portugal and then making a stop in France before our final destination of Southampton, England. We'll know more when the new itinerary comes out.
We're now headed out of Nassau to cruise across the ocean. I'll post more about our adventures along the way.
An upgrade and a discount.... nice. Love that glass!
